Sitia
Sitia is a charming seaside town a mere 3km away from the Agave Villas. Unlike many resorts that are crowded in summer and ghostly in winter, Sitia is lively and bustling all year round. It is a living town that happens to have tourism, rather than the other way around.
Sitia was built in the Venetian times, destroyed and later rebuilt by the Turks, with just a few signs of this history surviving until present times. Today, the long sandy beach of Sitia offers all the pleasures of sun, sand, sea, and windsurfing.
The area around Sitia is home to monasteries, notably Toplou, archaeological sites (the nearest just 100 meters from the Agave Villas), palm beaches, and fascinating trails across the mountains. Exploring Eastern Crete, also known as Lassithi, takes you on a journey through the magnificent countryside with its spectacular gorges, gentle valleys, incredibly beautiful hidden beaches and bays, and enchanting villages where time seems to have stopped a hundred years ago. Many traditional villages perched on steep mountain slopes are found only 15 minutes away by car.
